Corrections policy

We publish specifications, prices, and regulatory detail. Some of it will be wrong at some point, either because we made an error or because the underlying fact changed and we did not catch it.

A publication that automates its drafting has an obligation to be more transparent about corrections, not less. This page is that mechanism.

What we correct

Factual errors — a wrong specification, price, date, model name, or regulatory requirement. We correct these as soon as we can verify the right answer.

Stale facts — a figure that was accurate when we checked it and no longer is. Our specification files record when each value was last verified, and entries that go more than 180 days without re-checking are flagged for refresh. If you spot something that has gone out of date, tell us.

Broken or misleading links — outbound links are checked before publication, but sites move and pages disappear.

We do not silently rewrite an article’s substance after publication. Fixing a typo is not a correction; changing what the article asserts is.

How corrections appear

• A corrected article carries an updated date.
• Where the correction changes the meaning of something we previously asserted, we state what was wrong and what it now says, at the foot of the article.
• Where a specification changes, the source and check date on that row update with it, so the provenance stays honest.

We do not remove articles to make an error disappear. If an article is withdrawn entirely, the page says that it was withdrawn and why.

Reporting an error

Use the contact page. The most useful reports include:

• the page it is on,
• the specific figure or claim,
• and, if you have one, a source showing the correct answer.

A source is genuinely helpful rather than a formality — our whole verification process is built around checking claims against sources, so a report that comes with one can usually be actioned immediately.

If you are a manufacturer

If we have published something inaccurate about your product, tell us and we will fix it. Point us at your own documentation and we will use it as the source, credited, with the date we checked it. That is the same standard we apply to everything else on the site.
