Privacy policy

AgriDrones is published from South Australia. This policy is written to meet the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and the GDPR for visitors in the European Economic Union and the United Kingdom.

It describes what actually happens on this site. Where something is not yet in place, it says so rather than describing an intention as a fact.

The short version

We do not require an account, we do not sell personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles ourselves. Most visitors can read the entire site without giving us anything beyond the technical information any web server receives.

What we collect

Server logs

Our hosting provider records standard web-server information for every request: IP address, the page requested, the time, the referring page, and your browser’s user-agent string. This is used for security and troubleshooting. We do not use it to identify individuals.

Analytics

We intend to use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. As at the date at the top of this page, no analytics property is configured on this site and no analytics cookies are set. When analytics is enabled, this policy will be updated to say so before it goes live, and the relevant cookie information will appear below.

Advertising

We intend to display advertising through Google AdSense. As at the date at the top of this page, no advertising is served on this site and no advertising cookies are set by us.

When advertising is enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have consented. You can review and change your choices at Google Ads Settings and read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at google.com/policies/technologies/partner-sites.

Contact messages

If you use our contact form, we receive what you send: your message, and any name or email address you choose to provide. We use it to respond to you and to action corrections. We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for that purpose.

The form includes basic anti-spam measures. It does not set tracking cookies.

Newsletter

If we launch a newsletter, subscription will be explicit opt-in, handled by an external email provider, and every message will carry an unsubscribe link. No newsletter is currently operating and no subscriber list is held.

Cookies

This site sets one cookie-like item of its own: a theme value stored in your browser’s local storage, remembering whether you chose light or dark. It is not sent to our server, contains no personal information, and you can clear it at any time through your browser.

Third-party cookies from analytics or advertising are covered above, and are not set until those services are enabled.

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on:

  • Legitimate interests for server logs and site security.
  • Consent for analytics and advertising cookies, and for newsletter subscription.
  • Legitimate interests for responding to a message you send us.

You may withdraw consent at any time; withdrawing it does not affect processing already carried out.

Disclosure

We do not sell personal information. Information may be handled by service providers acting on our behalf — our web host, and (when enabled) our analytics, advertising, and email providers. Some of these providers are located outside Australia, including in the United States, which means your information may be stored or processed overseas.

Your rights

Under the APPs and the GDPR you can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you,
  • correct it if it is wrong,
  • delete it, and
  • provide it in a portable form, or restrict how we use it.

Contact us through the contact page and we will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EEA or UK.

Children

This site is aimed at people working in or researching agriculture. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

Changes

We will update this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top will change with it. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made silently.
